About Kurt and Freda Meyer
Kurt Meyer
A practicing Marriage and Family Counselor for over 30 years, Kurt Meyer received his Masters Degree from Roosevelt University in 1955. He studied under the renowned Educational Psychologist, Dr. George W. Hartmann and interned under Dr. Carrero at the Chicago State Hospital where he worked with female alcoholics. He took postgraduate classes in Group Therapy and participated in "Fight Training" seminars conducted by Dr. George. R. Bach. He is a founding clinical member of the International Alliance for Family Life, a professional organization for Marriage and Family Counselors and Educators.
Mr. Meyer is well known on the lecture circuits and it was his lecture on "Why We Should Do Away With Marriage Counselors" that inspired the "Marriage Verbatim" approach to solving problems in marriages. Though the lecture was done tongue in cheek, it pointed out that most marriage counselors are never called into the act until the marriage has all but perished.
To prepare for the "Marriage Verbatim" skits, Kurt Meyer took courses in Method acting at the St. Nicholas Theatre Drama School under Bill Macy and Steve Schachter who also directed the dialogues used in the "Marriage Verbatim" skits.
Freda P. Meyer

Upon her retirement, Freda joined Kurt in the capacity of co-marriage counselor.

To prepare for the "Marriage Verbatim" skits, Freda took courses in Method acting at the St. Nicholas Theatre Drama School under Bill Macy and Steve Schachter who also directed the dialogues used in the "Marriage Verbatim" skits.
